Brett Wilhelm/ESPNX Games and Winter Olympic champion Shaun White was arrested in Nashville, Tenn., Monday.
Action-sports superstar Shaun White was arrested earlier today in Nashville after a reportedly drunken episode during which he vandalized his hotel room then pulled multiple fire alarms after hotel staff confronted him.
According to TMZ, which first reported White's arrest, White also suffered a head laceration while running from hotel staff and was treated at a local hospital before being taken to jail. A jail spokesperson confirmed to ESPN.com that White, 26, was arrested Monday.
According to the Associated Press, White was charged with vandalism of $500 or less after an employee at the hotel saw him break a phone there. White was given the opportunity to sign a misdemeanor citation and refused.
Asked about the incident, Lowe's Vanderbilt Hotel manager Tom Negri said Monday in a statement that the hotel is committed to the safety and confidentiality of its guests. The statement didn't identify White and referred all questions to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department.
White, the two-time defending Winter Olympic halfpipe snowboarding champion, has also won 24 X Games medals as a snowboarder and skateboarder, including 16 golds.
